Where in the World are the National Beef Ambassadors Now?

Campus Blood Drive Promotes Beef

"Beef, It's What’s for Dinner ....and Donors. Enjoy iron-rich hamburgers after you donate!" That slogan enticed 150 students at Pennsylvania State University to offer to donate blood recently.

As the community service chairperson for Penn State Block & Bridle Club, National Beef Ambassador, Jennifer Rassler organized a "Beef Up the Blood Supply" blood drive with the local American Red Cross. The group had a goal of 120 units but far surpassed that when 135 complete units were donated. Each donor received a "Beef Up the Blood Supply" t-shirt, a hamburger and great nutritional information about beef and its important role as an iron source for blood donors. The local Red Cross was so pleased with the turn out and donations that it has started using the phrase "Beef, It's What’s for Donors!”

Jennifer felt this was a great way to reach her consumer peers with a positive beef nutrition message and build America’s blood supply at the same time.
